Rule Clarification Concerning Greenside Stakes
and Course Protection Stakes and Ropes
All stakes used for protecting greens or in protecting the course (i.e. ropes
and stakes) are treated as Movable Obstructions and therefore relief may
be taken under 15.2. Consequently, if a ball strikes such a Movable
Obstruction there is NO RETAKE option (Except on putting green, see Rule
11.1a and 11.1b) and players must play their ball as it lies with the option
to take appropriate relief under 15.2 again if necessary.
