Effective from 9th March 2026
Model Local Rule (E-3) Preferred Lies
Due to the wet weather conditions still in place on the course, players will
have the option that when any part of a player's ball touches part of the
general area cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief
once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this
relief area:
i. Reference Point: Spot of the original ball.
ii. Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point: 6
inches from the reference point, but with these limits:
iii. Limits on Location of Relief Area:
1. Must not be nearer the hole than the reference
point, and
2. Must be in the general area.
Model Local Rule (E-2)
With the current wet conditions, the Committee has put in place a local
rule temporarily which allows players, if there is mud on their golf ball and
the ball is in the General Area which is cut higher than fairway length, to
clean their ball under the following conditions:
The player MUST mark the spot where the golf ball lies BEFORE lifting;
The ball may then be lifted, cleaned, and replaced on its original spot in
accordance with the Rules of Golf procedure 14.1 (Marking Before Lifting)
Penalty for Breach of any Temporary Local Rule above would be the
general penalty under Rule 14.7a
